Manitowoc Ice Machine Repair Service in Virginia

Not dispensing ice or water

If your ice maker stops dispensing ice or water, first make sure that there is sufficient flow of water into the ice maker.  Maybe the water valve allowing water to the machine was inadvertently turned off.   Ensure that the Ice Shoot is not blocked or that the Ice Feeler has switched off the machine.  The Ice Feeler is the arm that pushes the cubes to the outer tray.  If ice piles up and makes the feeler stay lifted, dispensing of more ice will not occur.

Also, check the water pressure going into the ice maker.  If the pressure is too low, the water will not flow into the ice maker to make the ice.

Not making any ice

If you notice that your ice dispenser is not making any ice at all, first make sure that it is turned on.  Then make sure that the thermometer is set to the right temperature.  After confirming those 2 pieces of information, the culprit could be a frozen or clogged water line.  Turning off the off the ice maker to defrost the machine. If you turn the ice maker back on and it is still not making ice, consideration that a new Ice Thickness Probe may be required as the current one may be faulty (although it looks perfectly fine) and preventing the Ice Machine from harvesting new ice.  This is one of the most common repairs that we make. Furthermore, please note that as much as these Ice Thickness Sensor Probes look alike, they aren't at all interchangeable whatsoever.

Not making enough ice

If your ice maker is not making the amount of ice that it used to, first check whether there is a frozen line anywhere.  A defrost may be in order. If this doesn’t solve the problem, an Ice Thickness Probe may be going bad. The Ice Feeler arm may be sticking.  The Ice Maker Machine may need a thorough cleaning, and you may wish to consider calling us at this point.

Leaking

If you notice water on the floor near your ice machine, the ice maker could be leaking. Make sure that the ice maker is in a level position. Then check to make sure that there is no damage in the water pipes nearby.  Check the filler cup in the ice maker to make sure that is well positioned. Also, check the water intake valve. If you can't tell from where the leak is occurring, you will have to give us a jingle .

Frozen

If the water freezes before getting into the ice maker mold, your ice maker will freeze up.  To correct this, you will need to reset your thermostat to the recommended temperature.  Also, the temperature controller may require replacement.

Dispensing Smelly Cubes

There is almost nothing worse for your clientele than smelly ice cubes. This is due to your filter not being changed.  Change the filter in your ice maker at least once every six months to avoid the stinky smell.

Making Strange Noises

If you hear unexpected noises from your ice maker, this is a warning sign that should not go unheeded.  Unexplained noises could be a problem in your temperature control unit or compressor, or water could be falling on the defroster heater.
